Create a tournament to bring together a structured set of matches under one event. This guide walks you through naming your tournament, selecting the sport and bracket format, setting registration and play dates, and configuring how participants are seeded before you publish.
1

Open Tournaments

From the Match Point dashboard, select Tournaments in the left sidebar to view your existing events.
2

Click New Tournament

Click the New Tournament button in the top-right corner to start the creation flow.
3

Name it and choose sport and format

Enter a Tournament name and select the Sport from the dropdown. Then choose a Format: single elimination, double elimination, round robin, or Swiss.
4

Set dates

Fill in three date fields:
  • Registration deadline: the last moment players can enter
  • Start date: when the first matches begin
  • End date: the planned conclusion of the event
5

Set max participants

Enter a Maximum participants value. This caps registration and determines bracket size. For single and double elimination, Match Point suggests power-of-two bracket sizes.
6

Configure seeding

Choose how participants are ordered in the bracket:
  • Manual seeding: you drag and drop the order after registration closes
  • Ranking-based seeding: Match Point orders participants by their platform rating or league standing
7

Publish

Click Publish. The tournament becomes visible to players and the registration link is activated based on the dates you set.
Changing the tournament format after registration opens will remove any existing brackets and reset all match assignments. If players have already registered, confirm the change with them before proceeding.

Result

Your tournament appears in the Tournaments list with a Draft or Open status. Players can now register if the registration window is active, and you can move on to managing brackets once the deadline passes.
